Week 93: Meeting with new Mission Pres.

Well this week was absolutely a long week!! Haha it was good but we hardly worked we were in so many places and its been fun and long and its a great thing -we have a great zone or else we would be working hard for no good reason haha but all is well in Zion as they say. we just are glad Zion is where we are haha. but it was awesome to travel Monday night to tuxtla to have a wonderful meeting with Pres. George our new Mission President. it was an awesome thing to see pres and sister George and their love they have for us. He says he is in over his head right now but he is very glad he can rely on us as his leaders. so ya and well Thursday we were with him all day as we had interviews and a welcome to the mission conference. it was awesome and well what a great man he is, it just makes you glad heavenly father can trust in simple men that can change the lives of everyone. so ya a great man and we look forward to working more with him. so ya.

Happy Fourth of July, late I know but i don't have computer privileges everyday!! haha I just wanted to say that I just about forgot what the fourth meant, sorry I'm here surrounded by people who aren't Americans haha. its a bit different not seeing the signs or preparing for the day, or going on a hike or boating early in the morning to stay up late and watch fireworks. here i just said happy fourth to the American travelers and ya that's about it. but thanks to the home of the free and the land of the brave we know that truths of the gospel. its interesting that a Book of Mormon hero, named Moroni knew this land would be free in  his time. he knew it and taught it as he wrote the title of liberty.

 "And it came to pass that he rent his coat; and he took a piece thereof, and wrote upon it—In memory of our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children—and he fastened it upon the end of a pole.

 And he fastened on his head-plate, and his breastplate, and his shields, and girded on his armor about his loins; and he took the pole, which had on the end thereof his rent coat, (and he called it the title of liberty) and he bowed himself to the earth, and he prayed mightily unto his God for the blessings of liberty to rest upon his brethren, so long as there should a band of Christians remain to possess the land" (Alma 46:12-13)

 "And he went forth among the people, waving the rent part of his garment in the air, that all might see the writing which he had written upon the rent part, and crying with a loud voice, saying:

 Behold, whosoever will maintain this title upon the land, let them come forth in the strength of the Lord, and enter into a covenant that they will maintain their rights, and their religion, that the Lord God may bless them."(Alma 46:19-20)

Wow what a great man a true hero. He knew what freedom was about and well he showed it and taught it as he said, "In memory of our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children" that's what freedom is about. its the freedom to choose to have peace to live our lives with the ones we love, its freedom to worship god. And this land was blessed by the prayer of Moroni, the founding fathers who came to the Americas where Christians looking for freedom. God knew through Moroni  they would come and posses this land. god knew it and well so did Moroni as he praised mightily and well after showing this title to the people what did they do? "the people came running together with their armor girded about their loins, rending their garments in token, or as a covenant, that they would not forsake the Lord their God; or, in other words, if they should transgress the commandments of God, or fall into transgression, and be ashamed to take upon them the name of Christ, the Lord should rend them even as they had rent their garments." (Alma 46:21)  and they "they cast their garments at the feet of Moroni, saying: We covenant with our God" (Alma 46:22) those founding fathers did the same as they wrote the Declaration of Independence to proclaim their freedom from England. Isn't that interesting? as the Nephites declares Independence and their freedom and well they "hoisted upon every tower which was in all the land, which was possessed by the Nephites; and thus Moroni planted the standard of liberty among the Nephites." (Alma 46:36) they put their standard and so did the founding fathers.  “And that law of the land which is constitutional, supporting that principle of freedom in maintaining rights and privileges, belongs to all mankind, and is justifiable before me."(D&C 98:5) " And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."(John 8:32) Knowing the truths will certainly make you free. because we live in a free land a young boy could have the question and could restore the truths upon the earth once again. So let freedom ring and let this be a day of a reckoning. because I'm proud to be an American and id gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today because there ain’t no doubt I love that land God Bless the USA. and may god bless each and every one of us! I'm so glad to be out here!!! let freedom ring!!!

Week 92:The truth is San Cristobal is super different!!!

Happy Monday to all of you!! The truth is San Cristobal is super different!!!

Right now I have a cold… it’s awesome to sleep because you feel so good in cool weather but it’s hard to wake up!! Because well its freezing cold, for an elder that just barley traveled from Tapachula where its 100 degrees and rain to a place where it doesn't rain much and to have it be 50 degrees in the morning, I know, I know, its not too cold but seriously its a big difference. and well I’m glad I’m in the cool weather.

Well this week has been awesome!! Really being a Zone leader with Elder Coto is awesome!!!! The truth is the church it true!! I told Elder Coto today, in the morning, that I have no idea what to write this week, to tell you the truth, we have been trying to work but my companion has been sick and well we have been under the weather or well he has I just have a cold but that doesn't stop me from working. But I was thinking, Wednesday we taught a very important lesson to our district leaders we taught them to be modern day Moroni’s and we taught through Alma 43: it says:  

7 Now this he did that he might preserve their hatred towards the Nephites, that he might bring them into subjection to the accomplishment of his designs.

8 For behold, his designs were to stir up the Lamanites to anger against the Nephites; this he did that he might usurp great power over them, and also that he might gain power over the Nephites by bringing them into bondage

we explained that this was the devil and his evil works and well he always wants to bring us down to bondage

9 And now the design of the Nephites was to support their lands, and their houses, and their wives, and their children, that they might preserve them from the hands of their enemies; and also that they might preserve their rights and their privileges, yea, and also their liberty, that they might worship God according to their desires.

10 For they knew that if they should fall into the hands of the Lamanites, that whosoever should worship God in spirit and in truth, the true and the living God,

These are us, we are the good guys and we want to win and we are only here to protect those who know the word of God. We are also here to teach the others so that they know.

16 Now, the leader of the Nephites, or the man who had been appointed to be the chief captain over the Nephites—now the chief captain took the command of all the armies of the Nephites—and his name was Moroni;

and thses are our leaders our disterict leaders god has picked us as leaders to lead the people to the strength and will of god. and well if we really want the salvation we need to lead by example.

17 And Moroni took all the command, and the government of their wars. And he was only twenty and five years old when he was appointed chief captain over the armies of the Nephites.

18 And it came to pass that he met the Lamanites in the borders of Jershon, and his people were armed with swords, and with cimeters, and all manner of weapons of war.

19 And when the armies of the Lamanites saw that the people of Nephi, or that Moroni, had prepared his people with breastplates and with arm-shields, yea, and also shields to defend their heads, and also they were dressed with thick clothing.

Well we need to put on our true armor of god and he will surly bless us and well if we teach and lead by examples we will be blessed in the best ways. Our leaders were amazed and we have seen a lot better leadership, as we are going to our meetings today with Pres. George to show that the San Cristobal Zone is getting better. Its one of the hardest areas to work in the mission it’s known for not having lots of success because its a very Catholic place and lots of people are really closed to hear our messages and well lots are not from here they are visitors but really our zone has worked their tails off and we will just keep going upward and onward. 

One of the coolest things happened last night President George called us, I answered and he asked who I was, I said, Elder Monson, he asked how my companion was and then he just said Elder wow your a zone leader right? I said yes and he talked to me for a bit and it was awesome I really could feel the love this man has for this mission and he is in good hands right now as the assistants are running the show while he gets into the mission ha ha but all is good, we get to talk to him tomorrow and interviews Thursday and well we are just so excited to be in the mission it will be awesome.

That was my week we are going to work hard this week sorry not much but this week passed by too fast and well in like an hour or so we will be getting on a bus to go to Tuxtla so ya!!! so ya all good i love you all!!!!  Elder Coto is a great companion and well the church is true!!!
